A group of youths battle in their Starlings
| The open B fleet consists of the intermediate Starling Class, the Sunburst class, and
Trailer Yachts. The various types of boats are similar in speed which is why they have been
grouped togeather. This grouping gives a larger fleet size and hence more enjoyment for the
sailors concerned. For club racing the fleet is raced on rating which means the faster types of boats have to give the slower types of boats a time allowance. The rating is based on the New Zealand National Rating System giving all sailors an even chance of winning. The club hosts a Wellington Sunburst Association race on the Sunday afternoon of our Labour Weekend Regatta where fleets of 25 - 30 sunbursts sail. During the Regatta the Trailer Sailor fleet races seperate to the Open B boats |
| The Trailer sailer fleet consists of the smaller boats ranging from the Hartley 16, 18, 21
up to the Noelex 22. Also sailed are the Farr 5000, Monarch 17, Quicksilver, Caribou,
Davidson 20, Farrier Tri and McGregor 25. The trailer sailers have large fleets at our labour weekend regatta and frostbusters mid winter sail. They also make up most of the fleet in our annual 24 hour race. The club also has a club cruise to Lake Taupo on Wellington Anniversary weekend where trailer sailer owners can enjoy the advantages of having a cruising boat as well as a racing boat. The cruise tends to be held at the Southern end of the lake and last season 13 boats, and excess of 30 people attended the event which is also growing quickly in popularity.
