Music and painting are allied. Musicians and painters come to this same object though in different ways. We have some astonishing examples when musicians composers became painters like Mikalojus Konstantinas Ciurlionis. Experience in music helps to achieve their object in painting. Today's guest of THE SECRETS OF PERFECTION Ivo Perelman is an artist of this kind -- "one of the greatest colorists of the tenor sax" as Ed Hazell in Boston Globe characterized him.
..
Ivo Perelman was born in 1961, in Sao Paulo, Brazil where he studied one year of architecture. In 1981 he left for the USA (Boston and Los Angeles) where studied saxophone, composing and arranging. After performing in jazz festivals in Europe and USA and recording 25 cds under his own name jazzman Ivo started to paint full time.

Of course we saw some Ivo's effects that are adopted from Vasily Kandinsky, Pablo Picasso, Hans Hofman, Jackson Polock. But for all that Ivo is mighty original and entirely peculiar artist. His inspiration is amazing, and we can only say maestro Ivo is kissed by God. He catches beauty of random dabs, spots, sprinkling and with a few light audacious and powerful touches to surface of canvas he unites them into the imposing alive whole. It seems everything what he touches gets view of vernal beauty, usual soilings become the sparkling precisious stones and get therapeutic significance. When often in art works of similar kind we see something not arranged enough, irritating the eyes, anxious and ugly, painting improvisations of Ivo have no these features. Ivo has perfect taste.
..
If in art of another our guest Chinese painter Lin Xiuming it is felt attraction to European culture, Ivo Perelman achieves quality that we can equate with Oriental calligraphy's one (see "161" Spring). This comparison can be a visual evidence of today's globalization.
