A
Affirmation: An affirmation
is a statement designed to have a positive effect on the conscious mind
when repeated at frequent intervals throughout meditation and ritual spells.
Aka - The cord between the astral body and the physical body, most likely this concept is derived from the biblical reference to a "silver cord" connected the body and the soul.
Aspecting:Any advance magic
activity where the practioner manifests a particular aspect of a goddess
or god (whether in speech, appearanve, behaviour or thought) is known as
aspecting
Alchemy: is the
medieval chemical science designed to purify and perfect the prformance
of chemical experiments and magic rituals
Alchemist - One who practices alchemy.
Astral Travel/Projection - The process of separating your astral body from your physical one to accomplish travel in the astral plane or dream time.
Astrology - The study of and belief in the effects the movements and placements of planets and other heavenly bodies have on the lives and behavior of human beings.
Attune - To bring different elements into harmony.
Aura - The life-energy field which surrounds all living things. An aura is most often visible only to those born with the skill to see it, or those who developed this ability. A visible aura contains various colors and tells about the spiritual and emotional persona of the plant, human, or creature surrounded by it. However, an aura can also be felt, heard, or sensed through other means.

Bane - That which destroys life, which is poisonous, destructive, dangerous.
Banish - To magickally end something or exorcise unwanted entities. To rid the presence of.
Bi-Location - A type of astral projection during which you maintain awareness of your present surroundings.
Bind - To magickally restrain something or someone, or to 'bind' them to you
Blessed Be - A term derived from the ritual of the Five-fold Kiss, it is simply a blessing commonly used by Wiccans and pagans as a greeting or a goodbye. Abbreviated as BB or .
Burning Times - Reference to a historical time from around 1000 C.E. through the 17th century when it is said that up to nine million people were tortured and burned by church and public officials on the assumption that they were the Christian version of Witches. This turned into an extremely profitable venture, as all land and property was seized from the accused individual and portions given to the accuser (in reward fashion) and the remainder seized by the church officials. Historians indicate that the majority of people tortured and murdered were woman and children.
CCandlemas - Pagan Sabbat held on February 1st or 2nd
Cardinal Points - North, East, South, and West. Symbolized by the circle in magic (which connects the points), the four elements, and the watchtowers.
Centering - Grounding your energy through meditation, often before rituals to help harness and direct the balanced energy.
Chakras - Seven major energy vortexes found in the human body. Each is usually associated with a color. They are - crown - white; third eye - purple; throat - blue; chest - pink or green; navel - yellow; abdomen - orange; groin - red. Smaller vortexes are located in the hands and feet, as well as various other points of the body. They are in best working order when cleansed, opened, and balanced. Too much or too little energy in one chakra can be the cause for disruption in magick or frustrations in everyday life.
Charging - To infuse an object with personal power.
Cleansing - Removing negative energies from an object or space. It also refers to a ritual bath, (often with a handful of sea salt thrown in) which, through meditation, cleans the psyche. Traditionally performed before every ritual.
Coming of Age Ritual - At age 13 for boys, and at the time of a girl's first menses, Pagan children are seen as spiritual adults. The ritual celebrates their new maturity. Generally this is the age when they are permitted membership in covens.
Cone of Power - Psychic energy raised and focused by either an individual or group mind (coven) to achieve a definite purpose.
Conjure - To summon entities from the spirit realm into the physical plane.
Consecration - The act of blessing an object or place which is meant to be used in magick or dedicated to a deity by instilling it with positive energy.
Correspondences - Materials or ideas used in magick which relate to their specific goal. These can be herbs, stones, moon phases, colors, numbers, etc. An example would be mugwort used in a dream spell, as mugwort is a popular herb corresponding to dreams.
Coven - A group of thirteen or fewer witches that work together in an organized fashion for positive magickal endeavors or to perform religious ceremonies, led by a High Priest and/or Priestess.
Covenstead - The meeting place of witches, often a place where the witches can feel safe and at home.
Craft, The - Witchcraft, spellcraft.
Crone - Aspect of the Goddess represented by the old woman. Symbolized by the waning moon, the carrion crow, the cauldron, and the color black. Her Sabbats are Mabon and Samhain. Also a term of respect used for a witch who has passed menopause.

Days of Power - Significant magickal days around the year
Dedication - The process where an individual accepts the Craft as their path and vows to study and learn all that is necessary to reach adept ship. It is a conscious preparation to accept something new into your life and stick with it, regardless of the highs and lows that may follow
Deities - Immortal energy or beings, worshipped by their followers and invoked for magick.
Deosil - Clockwise, the direction in which the shadow on a sundial moves as the Sun moves across the sky. Deosil is symbolic of life, positive magick, and positive energies.
Divination - The magickal art of using tools and symbols to gather information from some universal source. This can be on people, places, things and events past, present, and future. Some examples of divination are scrying, tarot, runes, and oneiromancy.
Divine Power - The un-manifested, pure energy that exists within the Goddess and God. The life force, the ultimate source of all things.
Drawing Down the Moon - A ritual performed during the Full Moon by witches to empower themselves and unite their essence with a Goddess.
Drawing Down the Sun - A ritual performed during the day by witches to empower themselves and unite their essence with a God.
Druidism - An ancient Celtic order of priests which has undergone some modern revival.This is due to Druids not writting their teachings down
E
Eclectic - A person (or the practice of a person) who combines attributes from various traditions to create a unique spiritual blend of many paths and philosophies, whatever suits them best.
Elementals - Archetypical spirit beings associated with one of the four elements. 4 major elementals are salamanders (fire), sylphs (air), undines (water), and gnomes (earth).
Elements - Usually - Earth, air, fire, water. The building blocks of the universe. Everything that exists contains one or more of these energies. Some include a fifth element - spirit or Akasha. Very Important to the Indian Faith
Essential Oil - Plant oil that is extracted through a very complex process that generally yields very little product, making it costly to buy true essential oils.
Eostre's Eggs - Colored, decorated eggs of Ostara; named for the Teutonic Goddess Eostre
Esbat - A gathering for ritual work, generally during the full or new moon.
F
Faerie Burgh - Mound of earth that covers a faerie colony's underground home.
Familiar - A spirit or guardian who is close to a human being and considered a companion in magick.
Five-fold Kiss - A traditional salute generally performed between the High Priest and the High Priestess. This involves kissing 5 areas on the body of the Priestess with the accompanying magickal words:
"Blessed be thy feet, that have brought thee in these ways."
"Blessed be thy knees, that shall kneel at the sacred altar."
"Blessed be thy womb, without which we would not be."
"Blessed be thy breasts, formed in beauty."
"Blessed be thy lips, that shall utter the sacred names."
Folk Magick - The Practice of projecting personal power, as well as the energies within natural objects such as herbs, and crystals, to bring about needed changes.
G
Gaea/Gaia - Mother Earth.
God - Masculine aspect of deity.
Goddess - Feminine aspect of deity.
Grammary - Written magick, including symbols, signs, Ogham, and sigils.
Great Rite - Symbolic sexual union (also sacred marriage) of the Goddess and God that is enacted at Beltane in many traditions, and other Sabbats in other traditions. It symbolizes the primal act of creation from which all life comes. Often marks the initiation into the third degree. Sexual in nature but can be performed symbolically, if preferred.
Green Man - Another name for the God
Grimorie - A magickal workbook containing ritual information, formulas, magickal properties of natural objects and preparation of ritual equipment. Often used interchangeably with Book of Shadows.
Grounding - To disperse excess energy generated during magickal work by sending it into the earth. It also means the process of centering one's self in the physical world both before and after any ritual or astral experience.
Guardians - Guardians of the Watchtowers or Four Quarters. Some witches use them.
H
Halloween - Another name for Samhain
Herbalism - Art of using herbs to facilitate human needs both magickally and medicinally
Hierophant - A priest of the mysteries who reveals his secrets only to this initiates.
Higher Self - Non-physical, true self. The enlightened, "actual" persona of the individual as opposed to what the person seems to be or thinks they are. That part of us that connects our corporeal minds to the One and with the divine knowledge of the universe. Some term all the selves such as Lower Self, Middle Self and Higher Self as the AKA CORD
High Priest - A male witch within a coven that has been initiated into the 3rd degree. Abbreviated in written rituals as HP.
Horned God - One of the most prevalent God-images in Paganism, often mistaken for, or associated with, Satan. This is an incorrect assumption.
Hydromancy - Divination by liquid, especially water.
I
Imbolc - Sabbat celebrated on Feb. 1st, a celebration of the coming spring and births yet to come, the beginning of the end of winter.
Incantation - The spoken part of a spell.
Initiate - A person who has undergone the rite of entry into a coven, circle, or other organization
Initiation - A process whereby an individual is introduced or admitted into a coven. Usually a ritual occasion, and often involving and oath of secrecy. Not to be confused with dedication.
Invocation - To bring something in from without, often a divine or spiritual entity.
