Circle is cleansed, consecrated and setup prior to main ritual
Cakes and mead or wine are blessed prior to casting the Circle
Consecrating oil is on the altar
Cauldron, and flowers are in place
Salt and water are on alter to be blessed
Anything that can interupt ritual should be gone and or off. No radio waves, cell phones, T.V.
,House phones off. Frequency waves of any other items should be off so not to
interfer with the energy frequency you are
trying to send out to the universe. Note: All animals are fine to come
and go as they see fit unless it hinders your concentration.
When Witches do spells they normally
do them inside a circle or if a Druid it may be in a be a square. These circles
cannot technically be seen,but
they can be felt. The use of a circle is to keep out negative
and mischievous spirits
energy out and to protect the person and or people inside.
When you step out of the circle you should 'cut a door' in it.
You can do this by holding the wand or athame up and visualize and imitate cutting
a door big enough so you can walk through it. Make sure to
close it once you have exited. When you
enter the circle again you must open and seal or close it, by using the
wand or athame again but doing the action in the opposite direction.
There are different types of circles
Visualize blue-white light coming
up from the Earth through your feet, and down from the
Sky through your head, rushing through you, through
your athame , wand, or sword, and forming the circle.
Watch the light spread to form the the ground.
(Don't be distracted because your thinking about
your neighbors)Feel the genuine power of the circle.NOTE: You can start from the North if you choose. Again it is up to you. I am
one who starts in the East.
Start at the East with dish of salt and in
walk around clockwise motion Doesil sprinkle salt
and say this or whatever words you choose "With this salt and powers of Earth I purify you
and call on you to serve as
a protective boundary for this rite" Return Salt back to alter.
Now with candle. Start East again,
"With candle and powers of fire, I purify you and call on
you to serve as
a protective boundary for this rite." Return candle to alter.
Now with water starting East and
clockwise
say" With this water and the power of water I purify you
and call on you to serve
as a protective boundary for this rite." Return water to
alter
Now with Censer. Start East again and
say
"With this incense and powers of air I purify you and
call on you to serve as a protective
boundary for this rite." Return censer back to alter
On the way to the square I learned
a song at a Druid
Ritual I truly enjoy singing. "We are a circle moving
one as another we are moving together we are one."
The Watchtowers
Note I will not be associating The East as Air. Again do what is for you.
I only use East as air when I attend other's rituals but not my own.
Since in the circle casting itself I always start East and pick up another
item I start East again. But in the WatchTowers I thought you may want to know why I do not assign East to wind.
I understand this can cause some arguments, but I am following what I know
in my heart to be true and not what many neo- pagan's believe in their hearts.
You will see some writing below that I borrowed
from someone else who see's it as I do..
Example:Many occultists associate the four seasons
with the four cardinal points, as well. Hence, winter = North,
spring = East, summer = South, and autumn = West.
(To be precise, it is the solstice and equinox points which
align with the cardinal points.) Again, in most folklore,
winter is associated with air and wind, as the icy blasts
that usher in the season. In spring, it is the Earth which
arrests our attention, with its sudden bursts of the blooms and
greenery. Again, South relates to Summer,
the hottest season (Fire), and West relates to Water and autumn.
Again as a side note it is best not
to believe everything you read
because some have printed
stuff as fact, yet all the while
they may not want to fully reveal some of their trads secrets.
Invoke the God and Goddess
There are many invocations for this. So this is
up to you
Calling on the Watchtowers say what is appropriate to you
for that direction and your own feelings of what that ritual means
at the time relating it to each direction of the four elements.
I am just using a basic wording here.
EAST (Earth)
Ye' Guardians of the Watchtowers of the East,
the powers of Earth. upon to witness our rites and guard our cicle. So Mote It Be
South (Fire)Ye' Guardians of the Watchtowers of the South,
the powers of Fire we upon to witness our rites and guard our cicle. So Mote It Be
West(Water)Ye' Guardians of the Watchtowers of the West,
the powers of Water we call
upon to witness our rites and guard our cicle. So Mote It Be
North (Air)Ye' Guardians of the Watchtowers of the North,
the powers of Air we call upon you
to witness our rite and guard our circle So Mote It Be
Remember it is great to have drums etc in circle to raise energy.
When done with ritual Dismiss Watchtowers
EAST (Earth)
Ye' Guardians of the Watchtowers of the East,
the powers of Earth. As ye depart to your mighty
realms, we bid thee Hail and Farewell .So Mote It Be
South (Fire)Ye' Guardians of the Watchtowers of the South,
the powers of Fire we bid thee Hail and Farewell .So Mote It Be
West(Water)Ye' Guardians of the Watchtowers of the West,
the powers of Water we bid thee Hail and Farewell .So Mote It Be
North (Air)Ye' Guardians of the Watchtowers of the North,
the powers of Air we bid thee Hail and Farewell .So Mote It Be
Uncast circle with the elements again if this is what you
see fit
, or just use your wand, athame or sword. MAKE SURE to thank the
Deity you invited.
Some may enjoy The Witches Bible for some help with these area's. I use a basic structure of some of the words but always add my own
based on what the ritual is specifically about and I then use an association for those elements.
