~JADED EDGES~

I place quilled pen to parched paper spilling written words,

somehow I can slip just over the jaded edges of my mind.

There in stark darkness waltzing with shadows dancing slow,

kept journals I so poetically write each line into a perfect rhythm.

For years I waited on the lover to rise out of the murky mist,

the one who was shaped to fit the empty space left from within.

Past near a life time it could only be fulfilled by your love, warmth,

tenderness, and what completion as together might have been.

Strange I thought I was okay before you wandered along,

there were friends whom I cared about, things that mattered.

However that special space was always there, always empty,

always waiting for you, like pieces of a puzzle artfully scattered.

*

Here in hushed silence I lie thoughts flooding to my very core,

dreams crashing, are you my shining Romeo and I your Juliet?

No they are but imagery tales existing not in life that is surreal,

and can sadly only end in desperate folded pages of disquiet.

*

I tried to fill that nothingness with life's tangible possessions,

like a delicate porcelain rose they simply broke and shattered.

Because still that special space was always there, always empty,

always waiting for you, like pieces of a puzzle artfully scattered.

*

The hourglass sifts sands each passing nigh turned in time,

for an awe-inspiring awaking should two souls touch as one.

Where hearts speak only through the windows of their eyes,

love flowing back so extraordinarily it burst a midnight sun.

*
