~~ FALLEN EMBERS ~~
Our Military have began the journey's return,
an honor guard saluting the hours now past.
Emotions swell in the hearts of our Nation,
as flags once again, are flying at half mast.

I will be home for Christmas,
please wait my love and you shall see.
Only among one of the heroic fallen embers,
somehow this became our unplanned destiny.

Angels heralding, heavenly songs flowing,
weaving tears mourning of life treasured.
Memories pictures passing frame by frame,
sacred keep-sakes these things unmeasured.
~~
Places where time feels like winter frost,
snowflakes covering grounds in pure white,
Hearths with no warmth of love's offering,
trees sparkle gold, a star's brilliant light.
~~
Once when night would last forever,
empty stockings now hang without care.
Remaining symbols out of darken tomorrows,
left unattended for those who are not there.
~~
How far away we are from dawning,
when we were together, I belonged to you.
Another soul lost during freedom's battle,
this pathway united, we must see it through.
