PHONE BAG
I started working on one of these today, except I am knitting
it not crocheting it out of leather that I hand cut about the size of
worsted weight yarn. I have made and sold Native American crafts for years
and thought that it would be interesting to crochet and knit with hand
cut leather. I tested a stockinet stitch with some handmade knitting needles
Glen made for me in what I guess is about size 12 needles, it worked
out great. I crocheted a swatch first and it takes more cut leather
then the knitted version.
I sell lots of bags to the stores that buy form
me and I think this will do real good, Glen is making me some of his Antler
buttons carved in the shape of flower blossoms. He made some for
one of the commissioned crafts he is working on and I just fell in
love with them.
I really need to post some pic's I sure hope my daughter
can find some time to take them after she takes her state board test
next month. Someday I'll learn how to use my camera :) maybe:(
Still spring cleaning
:( but,,I made the 5 chapstick holder necklaces
for my friend that gave me a load of yarn last month. I am half done with
my daughters crochetted sewing set. And about
half done with my new Purple Socks. The
knitted socks have been on hold this week, I am saving that
to work on Sunday when I have a bit of time to think about what I doing.
I did find some
more neat sock knitting links that I thought were interesting .

"While
Spring Cleaning"
I got quit a bit done this week considering my
busy work week coupled with some late spring cleaning ( I'll be working
on that till Christmas, but that's another story :) The crocheted
sewing kit I am making for my daughters
birthday is 1/3 done. The crocheted camouflage
beanie for my brother in-law to go along with his matching socks
were sent to him this week, the colors matched his Jeep and he was
thrilled to get them.
All that white yarn I bought at a great price
has finally found a project. I am making the Martha
Stewart poncho for my sister in law with a wide brim matching hat and
when I asked her what color she liked she said "Well,,,,,,,,,,,, I really
like white.'' Thank God cause I didn't know what I was ever going to do
with it, I hate white! One day of me wearing white and it would have stains
from ever meal I had that day plus a load of coffee stains so now it's
going to good use. All the yarn I will have to buy is 12 balls Fun Fur
by lions. I'll use one strain Fun Fur and one plain white, it should turn
out cute I think long as she doesn't get to close to me and my coffee :)
I bought me some Wool
Ease in Violet
when I picked up the yarn for the knitted socks. I am crocheting a pair
of socks for myself and I have the first sock almost done.
I just loveeeeeee the color and they are going to be soooo soft. I can't
wait to wear this pair, even if it is almost summer, they are going on
the feet soon as I 'm done!
About those Knitted socks
This is as far as I was able to get.

The tutorial
is great , I just seem to have this problem with the yarn gapping a bit
from one needle to the other , guess it's going to take some practice.
Hopefully I will be on lesson #2 this week and will finally have gotton
the hang of it all, I can hope can't I ? cause,,,
I want some knitted
SOCKS!

"Casting On"
In preparation for my knitted socks, I have been knitting
up a storm this week! I made at least 7 wash cloths in Pinks, blues,
whites, and greens using the basket weave pattern, I added a lacy crocheted
edge to them to give them a nice finished look. I just love them! And
of course I also crocheted some more dish cloths, but enough is enough,
I am suppose to be working on socks, I finally
found the dpn's and I have bought enough yarn to make 4 pairs at least
so
About those socks, I have decided on this
pattern.
I am using Wool
Ease Pines Print

And Following the Complete Instructions found at Socks
101
Pray for me :) I am now casting on.
For my own notes I am posting some more info
and links that I have found this week pertaining to Knitting, read on if
you like.
Knitting needle
From Wikipedia,
the free encyclopedia
A few tidbits of info,
Knitting needles were,
for a short while, banned from US and international commercial flights,
being perceived by some as potential weapons after the September 11, 2001
attack on the World Trade Center and The Pentagon. Eventually, the US Transportation
Security Administration, or TSA , created after the attacks, began to list
knitting needles amongst the permitted items in its list of "Permitted
and Prohibited Items".

4/2/05"Yarn
Sales"
I followed someones idea this week of checking out thrift stores
for yarn and came across a bag of it for $3
,I went back a few days latter and she had another bag with 64oz of soft
"off white" knitting worsted for $4. I was
so thrilled with my little find that I spent all afternoon, putting
it into plastic baggies to keep it all nice and clean for some future
projects.
Thennnnnnnn,, I learned about the The
Recycled Yarn Tutorial
I thought this was such
a great idea that I went looking for a nice sweather to rip out ,I found
one in a wool blend, oatmeal colored yarn that would have
made great socks! Wellll, he liked it so much he is going to keep it. Oh
well,we must share a bit in this world so I'll give him that one but,,,,,
the
next ones all mine.

Crocheted Gift Ideas
I can just see this in Different Colors with all kinds of neat beads
hanging from it. I know a few crafty artists that could do
this bag designs real justice. I might
make this for a Christmas present.

Button Necklace
I was given a big bag of old cloths this week. I spent
hours taking all the buttons off to add to my button collection so
I can make some of these. I would never wear it, I never wear jewelry,
but I think it would make a neat gift for someone that does.
