"MYSTERY BABYLON:
THE ABOMINATION OF DESOLATION?"
SECOND NEW SITE - Spiritual Bible Studies
God, in these last days, is allowing man to rebuild their end-time "Tower" of Babel in the form of global church apostasy. It's fall is inescapable! Once God begins to withdraw the restraining power of His Holy Spirit (as is most evident in the past decades of today's church), man's natural fallen instincts will again attempt to build unto heaven for the ancient purpose of making a name for themselves, (cf. Genesis 11:4).
Concerning the spiritual lessons revealed within the end-time Babylon, God has much for us today, and especially today since history has indeed caught up with the Babylon of the Book of Revelation. Among the majority of books ever written concerning the end-time Babylon, the authors most often find its fulfillment in either the Roman Catholic Church, a single nation, a new poliltical or religious empire, or even a specific city of the earth. Others have assigned Babylon as simply the world in general. This is partially correct of course, since Babylon encompasses the things of the unsaved world. Babylon of old did represent the world in general. Notwithstanding, it is doubtful that God assigns the Babylon of the end-times (the Babylon of Revelation chapters seventeen and eighteen) to solely represent the world or even a nation and nothing more.
It is imperative to understand that God is using symbolic language and terms drawn from the Old Testament portion of Scripture. Therefore these chapters must be understood in accordance and compliance with which their symbolism throughout Scripture calls for. Revelation chapter eighteen appears to be speaking of a literal and physical judgment upon an entity (city, country or empire) code-named Babylon.
The world in general spiritually fell back in the Garden of Eden. It's literal destruction is sure to come at the Last Day. However, the fall of "Babylon" in which God focuses on in the Revelation accounts is not to be confused with the literal destruction of the world. Why?
God is describing something more perplexing and puzzling to us than this earth's destruction at the Last Day. What could be more perplexing than this, you may ask? In writing of the catastrophic conditions of the Last Day, it is thought that God does not assign such a BARRAGE of descriptions to this event as He does concerning the fall of the end-time Babylon. Why is this? It's answer is secured in understanding the depths of the MYSTERY with which this global harlot clings to.
This paper will interpret Scripture solely from Scripture and will not attempt to mode any preconceived notions into some kind of a new "idea." What is being taught in this work is relatively simple for any Christian to grasp, providing he or she is ready and willing to depart traditional commentary thoughts and take a fresh look at what God is showing us. What will the outcome mean for you? May it burden you with a zeal for upholding the 'whole counsel of God' without compromise.
Finally this writing in no way is meant to harm in a flagitious manner other materials written by believers concerning the Last Days. As Christians, we should openly and willingly listen to the opinions and convictions of other believers, knowing full well that no one person can even come close to fully understanding all of God's scenario for these Last Days.
